Indiana Visit

Josh and I flew to Indiana a couple of weeks ago to visit family one last time before baby girl arrives.  We had a great time visiting with family and friends.  I also threw my sister in law, Jenny, a baby shower while there.  It was a special time as usual filled with eating at our favorite places, visiting with some of our favorite people and just hanging out.

Josh did really well on the plane. Our flight out of OKC left at 6:15 in the morning so that was a little rough but that meant that even with a layover, we landed in Ft. Wayne, Indiana around 10:30 in the morning.  My dad picked us up and we went straight to Taylor University to have lunch with my mom.

The exciting part of this visit is that my parents have a new puppy, a black lab named Josie.  She was a bit wild and very puppy like so Josh didn't know what to think of her but she is cute and it is fun for them to have a dog around again.

It was so great to see Jenny and my brother, Jody and spend time with them and see their nursery.  It is really cute and all ready for baby boy Tyner.  I can't wait for him to be born and for Jody and Jenny to start this next phase of their life.  I know they will be great parents!

I was blessed to see several of my cousins while in Indiana.  The more family I can see the better!

One of the highlights of going home is that I always get to see my two best friends, Kelly and Holly.  The time I spend with them is always so precious and I always leave feeling so blessed by my friendship with them.

While home, I spent time with both of my grandmothers.  My grandmother Tyner (Nanny) is 87 years old now and overall doing really well.  She is such a blessing to me.  My Grandma Jane is now 81 and suffering from pretty severe Alzheimer's. I hadn't seen her since Thanksgiving and since then, she has declined significantly which is really hard to see.  She seemed to recognize me when I walked in the room but overall she is really just a shell of a person that I used to know.  She could tell that I was pregnant and kept asking when the baby was coming or where the baby was.  She kept asking if I had four kids and where I lived.  Alzheimer's is one of the hardest things because the body is there but the mind is not.  I am glad I was able to see her especially since I know that her condition will just continue to get worse and I am not sure when the next time I will see her.

As you can see in the below pictures, Josh loved spending time with my dad.  He was either beside him or on top of him almost the whole time we were there.  I love the pics of them wearing similar shirts.

Indiana 2012

We had a great time in Indiana in May.  My mom flew down to Edmond to take care of me and the boys as I recovered from my gallbladder surgery.  A week post surgery, we loaded up in the car and she drove me and the boys up to Marion so we could spend time with my dad, grandmothers, friends, cousins, etc.  We did all the usual stuff but it was great to be there while I was recovering.  Getting to see my friends and family really lifted my spirits.  Here are some pictures from our trip.  Better late than never :)

Josh isn't too thrilled about being in Ohio.

Will is into adding new states so Kent, my dad and the boys drove 45 minutes just to cross the border into Ohio.

Trying to get a picture of my boys and my dear friend Kelly's girls.  Josh wasn't cooperating.

My college BFF, Kelly. It is always a huge blessing to see her and catch up.

On the way home, we drove one mile off the highway so Will could pick up the state of Kansas.   We didn't see much of it but it was fun.
