Joshua's Easter party 2014

Whitley and I went to Josh's school for his Easter party and Whitley had the best time.  She is very social and made herself at home in the classroom. It was a lot of fun to watch her "talk" to Josh's friends and crawl around everywhere.  I have a feeling she is going to be very social :)

Easter 2013

We celebrated Easter this year at my in laws house and it was great because my parents were also in town.  We also celebrated Kent's birthday that day as well since it is April 2.

Preparing Our Hearts for Easter

Our church, Henderson Hills Baptist, puts together a devotional booklet with daily readings for each day leading up to Easter Sunday.  The booklet is online and can be found here.  The readings start Sunday, March 24.  I encourage you to check it out and read it with me.

Thoughts of Easter

As I look towards Easter this weekend, I am trying to spend more time focusing on exactly what my Lord and Savior did for me this week, Passion week. I was listening to iTunes over the weekend and was struck by this lyric from the Caedmon's Call song, "Mystery of Mercy."

You made the seed that made the tree
That made the cross that saved me
You gave me hope when there was none
You gave me your only Son.

How amazing is the plan of Salvation that God designed for us through the birth, death and resurrection of his only son, Jesus. I am so thankful! I love the simplicity yet utter complexity of these lyrics. God knew we would need a Savior. This was not a new idea or surprise to Him. From the beginning of time, He knew that His only Son would die in order to make us Righteous in His sight.

As we get closer to Easter, I challenge you as I am challenging myself to make sure that my heart and mind are focused on Jesus.....not bunnies, chocolate, eggs, flowers, Easter outfits, etc. Those are all meaningless compared to Christ. Let's make sure this holiday is about the true meaning behind it not about how the world sees it. There is no harm in celebrating the fun side of Easter with our kids but only after we have committed enough time to training them up about what Easter is all about. This weekend, let's celebrate the Creator and his amazing plan of Salvation for us instead of getting distracted by His creation.
