Feeling Crafty

Thanks to Pinterest, I want to make craft projects ALL THE TIME!  Here are pictures of my three newest ones.

I have been wanting to do a gallery wall for a long time. I found the Fruit of the Spirit scripture printable on Pinterest.  It was a free one so I sent it to Sam's Club to print.  It has been great to read through it over breakfast and discuss it with the boys.  I am thankful to have such a strong message on our wall for quick reference and a quick reminder when things get a little crazy :)

I have a new found love for patterns.  I love the quatrafoil black and white fabric that I fond at Hobby Lobby.  I incorporated it into both the gallery wall in our kitchen and the fabric covered bulletin board that I made for the side of our fridge.  Also, the yellow "D" on the gallery wall was inspired by another Pinterest project.  It was super easy!  I already had a canvas so I bough the wooden "D" at hobby lobby as well as the fabric.  I painted the "D" with yellow craft paint, sprayed the canvas and the fabric with spray adhesive, folded the fabric over the canvas, sprayed spray adhesive on the fabric and pressed the "D" on and it stuck!  I have a new found LOVE for spray adhesive.

DIY Valentine Decorations

I love pinterest but more than that, I love making things that I find on pinterest. Here are some pictures of a couple of things that I made this year for Valentine decorations that were inspired by pinterest.

Also, I have also really gotten into word art or subway art. The Be Mine framed print that I put on our mantle was found on pinterest and the best part is that it was a free printable download that I printed at Walgreens. Total cost was about $2.00 for the 8 x 10 picture and about $7.50 for the frame at Michaels. Not too bad considering I can use the frame for other things throughout the year.

DIY Valentine Decoration Tutorial

I made this one first and gave it away as a gift.

As I have mentioned before, I really enjoy DIY projects especially ones that I can use to decorate my home or give as gifts. I thought I would share an easy one I did a couple of days ago. Since I am not an expert on blogging and I can't seem to get everything to line up neatly under the pictures like I want it to, I am just going to list out what I did.

1. I started with a $1 unfinished wood frame from Michaels

2. I took black craft paint and painted the edges of the frame.

3. I traced the frame on the back of a piece of scrapbook paper then cut it out.

4. I used Modge Podge (my best friend) to adhere the scrapbook paper to the frame. You have to be careful not to get any bubbles under the paper.

5. I cut a strip of another piece of scrapbook paper and adhered it to the frame also using Modge Podge.

6. I took the 5 x 7 valentine subway art that I found on Pinterest and printed out at Walgreens and matted it on black scrapbook paper and rounded the edges with my edge rounding tool.

7. I adhered the pictures to the frame using super sticky tape (found at Hobby Lobby in the scrapbook section) and used my glue gun to glue the felt flower on. I found them in the Valentine section of Hobby Lobby (my FAVORITE store).

I hope this makes sense :)
