Taylor Swift

So last weekend, Kent and I (and about 13,000 young girls) went to see Taylor Swift in concert. I am a big fan and have really enjoyed all of her albums so it was really a treat to go see her live. She put on a great show and even though our seats weren't that great, it was still fun to watch. The concert was complete with fireworks, lots of glitter coming out over the crowd, Taylor soaring above the crowd in a balcony type thing while she sang her final song, lots of costume changes, backup dancers, a ballerina, a white baby grand piano, a harpist, people swinging from ropes, etc. It was quite impressive!

I wasn't close enough to snap any pictures of any quality so I found some online so you get a feel for the concert. She loves to flip her hair and shake her sparkly dresses. She wore the awesome purple dress in the above picture for part of the concert and walked all through the crowd with about 4 body guards shaking hands and hugging small kids. She seemed very warm, friendly and genuinely excited about what she was doing. She loved to tell the crowd how great we were which was a little annoying but it came across as sincere. I was thinking the whole time, "of course she loves us, we are making her super rich" but she really did seem excited to be in Oklahoma City.

Another quirk is that she had some words written down her left arm and we never did figure out what it said until on the way home when I googled it and of course, there is an entire website devoted to Taylor Swift's concert arm lyrics. I guess she changes it every night and writes a favorite phrase from a song from a band/singer she admires. Pretty interesting!

Overall, the concert was great! I loved it and would go back even if I am in the same age group as the moms taking their eight year old daughters to the show. It is awesome that there is a performer who keeps it clean, writes clean songs and doesn't feel the need to show skin.
