We had so much fun celebrating Whitley's first birthday! I really enjoyed picking out baby girl themed items this time around :) It was fun to dress Whitley up in her birthday dress and hat! I can't believed she kept the hat on as well as she did.
We celebrated with both sets of grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Whitley didn't really get into her cake that much and mostly enjoyed skimming the frosting off the top and licking it off of her hand. We were able to face time with Uncle Jody and Aunt Jenny so they could participate along with us from Indiana.
Whitley was a little overwhelmed by the amount of people in our family room but got more relaxed once we started opening presents. She was very excited about the pink and purple ball and kept that in her hand while opening the other gifts. It was so cute to see her open the two baby dolls she received as well as the other fun, girly toys :) We definitely have more girl themed items around here now!
Here are Whitley's stats from her first birthday appointment:
Height: 30 inches = 79%
Weight: 17 pounds, 1 ounce = 11%
Head: 44.2 cm = 30%
She is a tiny little thing! She is much smaller than her brothers were at this age.
She is currently wearing size 12 month clothes and size 3 diapers. She loves to eat and is still nursing once a day. I am getting ready to wean her but she doesn't seem to want to anytime soon. She doesn't drink from a bottle and really doesn't like to drink much at all so that makes weaning hard. She is getting better at drinking from a cup though and I know she will get enough calcium from all the yogurt and cheese she eats as well as the milk I put in her oatmeal. She loves to eat almost anything she can pick up but here are a few of her favorite things: blueberries, cheerios, raspberries, banana, avocado, cheese, mum-mums, vanilla yogurt, pizza, eggs, waffles, ice cream, etc. She really does love to eat and starts whining as soon as she is done to let me know she needs more on her tray.
She still continues to love her brothers and her dog. She crawls all over the place and mostly continues to crawl on her hands and feet not her knees. She stands up all the time but only occasionally will cruise along a piece of furniture. She took 2 steps today so who knows when she will start to walk. The pediatrician reminded me that girls are usually slower to walk than boys. She said average is 15 months which was surprising to me. Both our boys were walking by their first birthdays.
Whitley still only has two teeth on the bottom which is also a lot different than her brothers. Both boys had a mouthful of teeth by this time. The pediatrician said she has four top teeth getting close so we will see when those start to pop through.
Whitley is finally sleeping all night!!!!! Such a huge praise for us! She has been our hardest in the sleep department by far! We are so thankful that things are better in that department although teething has been hard for her at times.
She is such a blessing to us and we are so thankful to be her parents!
